What to check before paying for a full set of property drawings
Answer the large land, rule, service, demand, and money questions before design work runs ahead of the decision.
Name the decision first
Be clear whether the next decision is to buy, hold, sell, build, seek a partner, or compare home types. The right early work depends on the decision it must support. A drawing is useful only when it answers the right question.
Find the expensive unknowns
Access, utilities, usable land, drainage, soil, environmental conditions, local rules, market demand, and off-site work can change the plan quickly. Start with the items most likely to stop the project or change its cost.
Order the outside work
Surveyors, engineers, planners, architects, environmental firms, appraisers, attorneys, builders, and lenders may all be needed. They do not all need to start on the same day. Put their work in an order that lets each answer earn the next expense.
Source note
This is an evergreen project blog, not a claim about a current local rule. A property review must confirm the city or county rules and current market facts that apply to the site.
